PROJECT CONTEXT

Engineering the right
source of useful heat.

The engineering approach, system integration and project outcomes.

The challenge

Ceramic manufacturing can require high process-air temperatures for spray drying. VitrA Karo assessed renewable air preheating to reduce natural gas use while serving the ATM-52 and ATM-36 spray dryers.

The solution

The publicly shared SolarWall project summary describes a 1,450 m² transpired solar collector with connection ductwork and an AHU to provide preheated air to spray-dryer equipment. The system is engineered around operation and the relevant process temperatures.

Published outcomes

The project summary presents 52,000 m³/h design airflow, a reported 10–15% average savings expectation, a 1.9-year projected payback and 1,407.6 tonnes of projected annual CO₂ reduction. These are published project expectations; independent post-installation verification is not established here.
